How much do you spend in supplements?

I just read a post where a DSer stated that her supplements are around 300 a month. I am tripping out. I am wondering if you vets can post an estimate of what you each spend a month on protein and vits pretty please. I was told that max it would cost me around a 100.00 to 150.00

There may already be a post somewhere but I couldn't find one. If ya have a minute to post I would be appreciative.

Thanks.

It costs me no where near that per month. $50 a month at the most if that.

But i dont take protein shakes. I just make sure to eat lots of protein in my regular diet.

I just had my blood drawn and at 3 years out im doing just fine!

I think that $300 a month was start up cost of vitamins.  Just guessing.  Not all the bottles have the same number of capsules and pills, so one bottle that initially costs a little more might last you 4 or 5 months.

The last time I ordered a 90-day order from Vitalady I spent somewhere around $600 but that was with 3 tubs of protein and enough vitamins for me and my hubby. I didn't order everything I take because I have a little in stock that will last me another 60 days.

Also, remember that she said protein, not just powder/shakes and vitmains...MEAT IS EXPENSIVE!

I was assuming she meant protein shakes or packets not food. That is a little different. I knew I would have to spend a little extra on meat. I know everyone has a different regimen and that everyone is different. I am trying to get a feel for what I might be paying. This helps and I appreciate it.

It didn't affect us too badly...except for the first two initial vitalady orders...we were still 1) trying to get set up and 2) didn't know what we really might need so ordered all of it.

However, we had been eating as close to an Atkins diet as we could stand already as it helped my diabetes. So the amount we BOUGHT has not changed much...the cost of what we've bought tho HAS risen and nothing we can do to stop that except catch sales, use markdown meat (meat on it's last sale day, usually marked down to get it out the store), use fattier cuts, eat LOTS more chicken, etc.

Thank you for the advice! I have to get use to fatty meats. I have never been one to like fat at all. Grosses me out unless it is in bacon or a pork chop. LOL.

I'm not one for fatty meats either but some tricks to help...instead of a 90/10 blend of hamburger, use the 80/20 (it's cheaper and you actually cook most of the fat off anyway).

Don't be afraid to use REAL butter when cooking. I use real butter and my cast iron skillet for many foods...and I believe cooking in the cast iron is helping with the iron levels too.

Even if you cut the fat off before eating, leave it on while cooking...it helps keep it moister.

I spend roughly $100 a month on vitamins, supplements, probiotics...

I will adjust again after one-year labs.  (This does not include supplemental protein powder or bars... )

My initial start up kit was Vitalady's DS schedule, but after that, I found my own sources to replenish selected items, in particular the ADEK's.  I spend between $200-$250 quarterly.

I love Michelle's products, but they are a bit too pricey for me to use exclusively.  I cherry-pick from hers, then I go to other online sources on Amazon.com, Lucky Vitamin.com, and even eBay (!) to find what I need to replace.  I can get the same potencies for less, and for the few that I cant' find, I search for the least expensive I can find in a larger quantity, and I multiply the dose if necessary for the equivalent.

I'm also an extreme couponer, so I have my cost-saving system almost down to a science!

Hope that helps!
