Age When You Got the DS

I was 45, and had I not had it then, I probably wouldn't have seen 50. I turned 55 earlier this month.

I wish I could have had my DS in my 20s---I might still have good knees if I had. And I certainly would have spent less time sitting on the sidelines!

Thank you ALL for your replies! It seems that I'm in the same boat as many of you, in wishing we did this sooner. I really hope to have the DS before I turn 36 this summer.

Other than the possible baby factor, I'm also curious if malabsorption for like 50 years is going to cause more issues than malabsorption for, say 30 years, especially calcium. I don't want brittle bones later. Surely it's possible to control with labs and a good vitamin regimen. Anywho, thanks again for sharing!

I was 43 when I had the DS 18 months ago.    I have lost 165 lbs.   I feel like Wonder Woman!   I have regained a life.   I wish I'd done it earlier.   It took me 3 years to decide to have the DS.   I am active all the time.  I can't sit still.   I feel so good.   I have an 8 year old daughter.   I love the fact that I can play soccer with her.   I can go on rides at our local county fair with her.   It is the little things that make it so great.   I am doing so well, I know I'll be here in my late 80's and still rockin'!
