I think I understand what you're feeling. Honestly, being young (you more so than me) makes me very nervous to have the DS. That's simply because of how long you have to maintain the regimen of a DSer. But I know it's possible! A habit is a habit, is a habit, no matter how long you have it. So I assume all of the protein and vitamins will still be second nature in 10, 20 or even 30 years. You can do this! It's probably what's allowing you to have those extra years anyway. Take the time to deal with being depressed, then get over it. Ha! I do hear that hormone dumping is normal though. You will be 5x more healthy in just a few short months.

Now I'm curious at what age people have been getting the DS. I might start a post just on age.

If you are truly depressed, that's serious. There are lots of good treatments available these days for depression. Contact your doctor (pcp if surgeon not helpful with this issue) and get help if you need it.

If this is just the post-op blahs, know that, as everyone is telling you, it WILL pass and happier days are ahead. You are recovering from major surgery and general anesthesia, tired, possibly dehydrated, having hormone shifts, and unable to eat the foods you usually eat. This really is life changing surgery! But it's a GOOD change, and you will adjust with time, and the vitamins and protein will become old hat. You can do this.
