Toss out his recommendations and follow Vitalady's plan.  Go take a look at her plan, then take a look at Dr. G's plan and you will recognize why you need to know your own body/labs/nutritional status.  There are also other things you will absolutely require if you expect to stay healthy.  Dr. G was a great cutter, but his nutritionist has not a clue about the physiology that changes during the DS and our needs.

Good luck, let me know what you think after you compare .

If you're going to do extra dry D and A, you might as well do some dry E and K (although I didn't start those until a few years out), and swap out that expensive ADEK Multi for some Centrum, and I'd add one more Calcium Citrate tab to the daily total.  Change your D amount to 50,000 iu per day, and the A to 25,000 iu

Adding to what the other two said....what is your current D level? Most of us can NOT stay healthy on that recommended level of D. I have to take 50,000 (NOT 5000) every day along with an extra 50,000 twice a week to stay up near 80-100.

Here is what Vitalady recommends:

And this is a list of where you should be.

Start with her basic list and ONCE you get labs done after surgery, start tweaking.

But a multi with A, D, E, K extra is worthless...what if you are high in A but severely low in D? How do you adjust a multi to suit that. That is why a multi like Centrum or the Kirkland Daily that compares to Centrum is all the multi we need. Tweak other stuff individually.

Ok, let's break this down...

you need 2 multivitamins like centrum daily.  some people take 3

Calcium Citrate... with that amount of Vitamin D is just not available anywhere, and not in his office.  The multi vits of ADEK... they don't have near enough what you need...

He is saying to take 16 MILLION IU of D twice a day?... maybe it is 600mg calcium citrate with 200 IU D?  That is not going to be enough Calcium anyhow. About the D? Even if you add in the additional 5000 units, that is still not near enough.  I take 50,000 IU of D now... there was a time I needed 100,000 IU of D.

Most people require much more A every day.  I know I need 75000 IU of A daily.  What kind of b12?  methylcobalamin or cyanocobalamin.  There's a difference.

Lots of DSers cannot absorb ferrous sulfate, need another form of iron.

I take additional dry E twice a day, separate K's.. K1 and K2.  You need to be prepared for surgery by having the vitamins on hand post op.... which you may not be able to take right away, don't worry about that, your body has some reserves.  If you can get your GP to order pre op levels of your vitamins NOW, you will know how much leeway you have in the weeks post op.

Again, please look at Vitalady's list.

methylcobalamin 5000 mcg daily is the better purchase.  The other form of b12 has to be converted in the liver before you can use it and your liver is already going to be very busy processing all the other stuff as well as clearing out the fats so it will be easier on your body.  A little more expensive, but you are worth it!  Good luck~

5000 units dry D3 per day  Not to mention the others...

Not laughing at you.  Laughing at the ludicrious recommendations of your dr.  Great cutter I'm sure.  Most surgeons know squat about what we need for supplements.  This list = certain death.  Anyway....don't listen to this.  Pay attention to the vets here.  Vitalady is the best place to start.
