10 Days and counting.  I am scared to death.  LOL.  But happy, just more afraid of the pain and of complications but have prepared myself for such should they occur.

Advice please:  What foods should I have at home for the first month or so?  Remember this is a revision so I will be extra fragile.

I definitely wouldn't have too much if one thing. Power aide zero is good to have to keep hydrated. Sugar free Popsicles were a godsend. Sugar free pudding an no sugar added applesauce. I would only get samples of protein. Cottage cheese. Different soups. It depends on the progression in diet your dr has. Just remember the 30-60-90 rule. It's great to get about that in protein but don't get down on yourself if you can't.

SF ice pops, SF pudding, broth. This helped a lot for me. I also bought protein shakes...look at the ingredients though. I used ans still use EAS from Sam's club.

I can second the Powerade or Gatorade zero calorie. And yes, the sugar free popsicles were a great thing. Broth as well. Your number one job the first week or two is drink, drink, drink, and if you are like me, getting 64 ounces in was a struggle.

Greek yogurt and scrambled eggs were a favorite early out.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.  I will make sure we only get one or two of any given food item.

Food after the DS

Lots of people ask what to eat after surgery, so I kept a record of the foods that I ate for the first two months after my DS so that maybe others could get ideas for themselves.  It is up to each individual to decide if they want to follow the nutritionists plan or to devise one that works for them.  I chose to do the latter.  Unfortunately, the nutritionist taught my DS pre-op class many things that pertain to RNYers, so I chose to do what worked best for me by following suggestions of others here on the boards.  I am not a nurse, nutritionist, or doctor, these were just the things that I ate and worked for me the 2 months following surgery.

Here's what I'm eating at two weeks out....

Cottage Cheese

Activia Yogurt

Kraft Cheese Snackables (Ea. piece is 6 g's of protein and only one ounce...colby jack or cheddar)

I could not eat most of what was on the first month list. I would suggest a lot of what the other people suggested. Getting the water in was very hard. I had to do broth often because it was like eating a meal. I would use a roman soup packet or bullion because canned broth is just gross. but the warm broth is still a good treat for me at six weeks out.

You really are not going to want to eat. Shoot taking a phone call is overwhelming. So try if you can but the most important thing folks on here told me was to get my fluids in. trust me its not easy! Try lots of different fluids at different temperatures.

Thanks! This is really helpful! So, is there a certain amount of time post-op you should be on liquids only?
