How long were you out of work?
I am a floor nurse, sometimes charge and that helped tremendously. Everyone at work knew of my surgery so they helped me out. I work on a floor in which we have alot of bariatric patients weighing in at over 700 lbs at times. I took of 4 weeks. I didn't lift these patients until 7 weeks...but with help of course. I had to get used to my bowels and foods to eat. Also as someone posted here everyone heals at different rates.....my main complaint was nausea and tiredness. Its a big surgery....take as much time as you can. I didn't have PTO time left so I went 4 weeks without pay. Lucky my hubby works and has a good job also.
Like Val states when someone posts this question....she felt listless for 5 weeks....I can see that easily happening to someone. Just remember, sip on water....even though you ar not going to want it....sip. Hope this helps
PS: I just wanted you to know that I am very glad I was open with my co workers......only because I lost about 26 lbs...this will be my eight week....now down 43 lbs. It is a dramatic change and it alleviated all those questions. They all knew what I had done and why....otherwise every single person you bump into will be asking you questions. There are two other nurses "waiting" to see if this works for me...they are scared and waiting to see my results....They are seriously looking into getting thi done because of my results in less than eight weeks;) Good luck to you!!!!!!!!
I started with 6 weeks and bumped it up to 8 weeks. I was almost 55 when I had my DS. I still got tired very easily after I went back to work. Desk jockey, but I wasn't getting in my daily nap. I was feeling much better at 3mo.
