Band to DS Approved By 1199!!! BMI <50
Tomorrow is the big day…FINALLY! This band has been in for 4yrs & I can’t wait until Dr. Roslin takes it out. I’m so happy I got approved for DS. I’m so grateful for all the information Diana & Larra gave me. They’ve guided over the past 4 months through my initial submission, peer to peer, 1st appeal and 2nd appeal. Thankfully my self-funded insurance company, 1199 National Benefit Fund, looked past their greater than 50 BMI requirement for DS. If not, I was prepared to do an external appeal with IPRO. To anyone else trying to get approved for DS with an insurance company that has a BMI requirement: Don’t take “No” for an answer…Exhaust ALL of your appeals.
Lately I’ve been searching the boards for Pre-op info such as things I need available when I get home from the hospital and how to deal with common issues most patients have immediately following DS surgery. Besides the obvious dsfacts.com, if you know of any sites or threads please let me know.

Congragulations on your surgery! I hope and pray all will go well for you. I am having my surgery on Tuesday- the 19th. Excited, a little nervous but looking forward to getting it done. i want to be on the other side of things and losing once again! Hopefully someone will have some advice to post as I would also like to have the same info!!!
