For 2 weeks I have to be on the protein drinks, Dr. G said I could have zero cal items, does that mean I can still have my Coke Zero? He also said about broth and carrots ( a few not a whole bag lol).

That would be a question for the Dr. My surgeon said no carbonation till after 6 weeks, while others say not till your goal. Others may be fine with it. It just depends on your Dr.

I was also allowed to have cucumbers and celery. I am with Docputer...since we had the same surgeon about the diet coke.

This is for 2 weeks before my surgery, I know after my surgery I won't be able to drink it any more :(, moving on to coffee now :).

Thanks

Use this time to come off diet or any soda...you won't be able to easily tolerate it after surgery until your tummy heals.

I never drank much soda but do like it on occasion (average one a month at most). I discovered in the first 6 months after surgery, a sip or two was enough and even then it had to be a fountain drink not a can/bottle. I STILL have trouble with cans/bottles...too fizzy!

While diet soda may be fluid, it is not good for us even tho it is "no calories"...just come off it.

That is what I am planning on doing, decreasing it more and more everyday so I will be totally off it by the day of surgery.

Yep - use that pre-surgery liquid diet time to come off all your bad habits - including carbs and caffeine.  Makes it much easier on you later.  Seriously - eat as little other than the protein drinks and water as possible.  It will be really hard, but you'll lose a ton of weight even before the surgery!

That is what I am hoping for. I have my packets of powder ready and got a Ninja today :).

Go to GNC and get a shaker mixer cup. Much easier than having to clean up the Ninja multiple times a day. Oz of water, scoop/or scoops of protein and three or four ice cubes. Shake it up and drink right from the cup. Water clean up. Easy peezy.

LOL I have one with the little ball in it, the ninja has the single serve cups in it, we have to go to MD tomorrow for the day so I have to bring one ready made with us. The powder I have is in a an envelope so at least I don't have to measure it out.
