Hello! Ive been reading this forum for a while now for info before i get my ds! I have an appointment next friday to see Dr. Stephen Scott in des peres MO. Im just curios about what happens the day of surgery to prepare. And also some skin questions. Im 22 years old female and have ALOT to loose. Im scared about excess skin : / Any tips on how to minimize it? Any info would be great and appreciated!

Here's a great link to see what happens when you cross over from pre-op to post-op:

As for skin, there is nothing to predict or prevent the inevitable.  Fortunately, you do have youth on your side.  In addition to youth, the remaining ****tail is genetics, time morbidly obese, mixed with a little bit of luck.

Thanx for the link! I'm sure even if I do have excess skin ill get over it. Being thin will be a big enough blessing and no ones perfect! However luck would be great!

Consideration of loose skin is WAY WAY down the path in this journey.  But yes a consideration.  And I would guess you will have something to consider later on...I am having DS with Dr Scott on 3/26 at My New Self program and find the eating / vits information here very precise and helpful and the DS program at MNS is still getting the information fine tuned. Friend me on your page and we can chat.  OR meet me at support meetings on Thursdays.

Many generic questions about all WLS are discussed before, during and after meetings that are very helpful.  Just knowing you are not alone in this journey is GREAT!  I did it alone for my sleeve and did fairly well but family just cannot understand unless they have walked in the shoes of obesity and WLS.

Good Luck.

Thank you so much! I have a village of people who are here to support me but no one who is going through it. I'm sure all will go well I've heard great things about dr. Scott!

I see you went to DSFACTS.com, it is a great place for info.

As for loose skin...everyone differs. Age, genetics, hydrating, how much excess weight... all these things play a factor. I was 26 when I got my DS and my skin snapped back beautifully. I was a lightweight so I only had barely 100 lbs to lose. My stomach has loose skin :( You can't tell when I wear clothes and you can't tell when I wear a tight dress. I wear shape wear if I wear anything skin tight. I plan to have it removed after children (trying to get pregnant as of now). I would easily have a 26" waist without the skin :****il then I have 28 1/2.

I wouldn't worry about it and just take it when it happens:)
