VIT D2 1.25MG (50,000 UNIT)

My doctor prescribed me a VIT D2 pill which I only have to take once a week. However the pill is not in a dry form. I wanted to know if anyone else take the same pill. I already had the chewable Vit D pills which I took but the doctor stated I can just take the new pill once a week.

It is oil based and you won't get the benefit of it at all.  Take the D3 that is available through VitaLady.  Seriously, you need to keep up your levels or they will tank.  The doctor doesn't understand the DS'ers nutritional needs.  Most doctors don't, YOU have to know the facts and educate them.

I was thinking the same thing with the oil base. I will go back to my dry chewable Vit D.

You will still probably absorb about 20% and that's 10,000 units.  Take them and the chewable.

Waste of money and your time.  Take the biotech 50,000 unit dry D3...one per day.  What is your D level right now?  Lots of DSer's need to take 100,000 or 150,000 per day to get their D level up to around 80.

Many docs are scared to death to recommend the level of D that many of us (50k - 150k iu per day) take because overdosing is toxic to the body..  They don't understand that we malabsorb much of this..especially the D2 oil capsules.  Pay extra special close attention to labs

Your doctor does not understand your surgery.  You have to take DRY fat soluble vitamins:  A, D, E and K.  Anything you take in oil is going to go straignt through you and into your toilet.

What everyone else has said, plus---D2 has to be converted into D3 in the body in order to be useful. It takes a LOT of D2 to make a little D3.

I was given the same Vit D2 pill and have already taken 2 doses.  I am discouraged to learn that it has been 2 weeks wasted.  Before I get any more medication that My Doctor tells me to get I am checking here first!  I am also discouraged that there is a large community of people like us with inadequate follow up care available to us to depend on.
