I haven't had labs for over 3 years.  I don't have a very good GP right now so she doesn't even understand the DS!  I took Vita Lady's labs list and my doctor agreed to have most of it done.  I don't think she understood the need for most of it.  When I see her I will get a copy.  It was suggested a while ago that I post the results here to get advice.

Thanks

Ok. Good luck and I'll be looking for your labs when you post them.

And track your labs too.  That way you can pick up trends - eg what's heading down, OK maybe slightly less valuable when you have such a big gap, but still worth doing - that's how I convinced my PCP to up my iron (it was still in range, but going down despite supplementation).

What I do:

I type up my own lab slip with everything I need on it.  I show copies to my surgeon and my endo doc.  My pcp signs it as I think he thinks the list comes from my surgeon.

If your pcp won't order all the labs you need you MUST find another way to get them.  You have to have them.  Some labs don't require a signature to do labs.  You just need a complete list and to whom they are to get sent.  Make sure you put on the lab slip "Release all results to patieint."  That way you don't have to jump through hoops to get the results.  The lab will give them to you directly.

Thanks Becky,  I will try that next time.  Some of the tests were expensive but the lab tech said I sould have them covered if the doc states they are needed be because of my DS.  I know I am going to have to work very hard to get what I need from this doc.

Ok... well it does appear that my crazy 9 pound weight loss last week was a fluke of some sort as this week - I've gained back 7 of the lost pounds! I'll just track my 2 pound loss over the last two weeks which makes sense as I'm losing at a rate of about 1 pound every two weeks or so... sigh.

Bites:

B - coffee; Fage 2% with blueberries and slivered almonds

S - turkey jerky and almonds

L - chopped salad with chicken

S - 2 oz cheese and a carrot

D - TBD - on the road to my weekend home! Yay! Can't wait to get outta the city and into the Northern California sun!

Vites - yep!
Cites - nope! BUT I am going to do my dance off the inches Hip Hop tape in the morning! I PROMISE MYSELF!
