New Here! Lap Band Revision to DS? Nervous

Nervous but excited. Actually made it to New Pt Seminar last night. I have registered so many times and chickened out.

I am so glad I went. The doctor was wonderful. I am an RN, 54, overweight most of my life, but now mobility and endurance and PAIN have become daily issues. I am a floor nurse, mother and grandmother and wife. I have reached the point where I am now scared NOT to have something done. (Crap Band was a waste) Current weight 340 +, would love to be {{{135}}} I was set on RNY but came away thinking I need to consider the DS. Any thoughts will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Lori59

Welcome! You will find alot  of revisions under revision board....and even a few of us who had the lapband still go on the lapband forum to help out others who have had problems with it.

I am a band to DS revision. It has been six weeks and all I can say is you are making the right decision. I am also an RN and had the daily aches and pains (floor nurse too).....I went back to work last Monday and I have to say that I feel lighter on my feet already. No edema from my calves down.

I am so glad I did this. I lost maybe 20 lbs in 6 years with the band. I now have lost 35 lbs with my DS. You can friend me if you would like. It helps to have friends on here!!!!

Welcome,

I am currently trying to get approval for revision form crapband to DS as well. Hospice nurse, 340 pounds and the band did not do much for me either. Good luck on your journey!

Hello & Welcome!

I had the band for 3 years and had a complication and needed to have it removed. I had the band out and the DS done in December and I've gotta say, I like the DS MUCH better than the band!!  Eating is much easier and very natural feeling  and te higher fat diet is much more satisfying than low fat, low calorie. Good luck to you!

I too am considering DS from the Lap Band.  Of course i have to get approval from my insurance before which is what I am working on right now.  It is so frustrating because when I first looked into weight loss surgery I was very nervous about the more invasive surgeries such as Gastric Bypass and DS.  Went with the Lap Band and it has been not the right one for me.  I am most nervous about the malabsorption and not getting the nutrition needed.  Otherwise very excited and patiently awaiting the go ahead.
