Feeling very sick...STILL

I had the DS (switch) done at the end of December.  I was just wondering from anyone else who's had that surgery, if they are feeling queasy and sick every day.  It's been just over 2 months for me and I am still feeling very sick every day.  Like I need to throw up all of the time.  Even the thought of food makes me sick.  I did have a scope done 3 weeks ago and I had a twist in my stomach and in my intestines, but that was fixed.  Just wondering if it's just me or if this is "normal".  My husband also had the surgery at the same time, and he feels great. (tired, but not sick).  Thanks for your feedback!

I'm sorry you're going through this but you aren't alone. I've read over the years of folks having issues like yours for a few months post-op but it gets better.

The first thing that comes to my mind is dehydration, which is common or early post-ops and causes queasiness and fatigue.  Are you getting in 64oz of fluids every day?  If not, then an IV bag will start you feeling better so you can go home and get on target with fluids.

Hi,

You may also want to contact your surgeon. I was nauseous and was prescribed something for relief when needed.

Best,

I had surgery on dec 19. I wake up every morning very nauseous but it does subside after I eat something. It happens again if I have gone over 3 hrs without eating anything. It helps if I eat some kind of protein at every meal and snack. Keeps my tummy filled the longest. Make sure u keep drinking, you can get dehydrated very fast. I'm also feeling tired but noticed an improvement after week 8. Hope you start feeling better soon.

I had my surgery on Dec 19/12. I had nausea and vomiting for several weeks post-op and it settled with Zofran. I still have nausea daily, but only occasionally vomit now. I use Diclectin 2-3 times a day to ensure I get in at least 3 protein shakes and at least 2L of water in addition to the rest of my fluids. I need to eat every three hours or my nausea gets worse. Ask if there's something you can take for it. You might need to go on another PPI, too. Hope it settles down soon.
