LOL, You know me Wonkad always busting my butt and never getting anywhere. I wrestled with it for a long, long time and I know it is the right thing to do because my weight is going higher and higher and my health is going backwards.
I am scared as hell but it's time.
I am a Stewart Patient, albeit a virgin Stewart patient. I am plugged into a local group of DS patients (a mixture of Stewart and Barker Patients with a smattering of others) I will tell you that every Barker revision to my knowledge in our group has had some sort of major complication. Some are fine now, some are still dealing with major issues months..years out. Stewart doesn't have the razzle dazzle that I have heard Barker does..but he is one heck of a skilled surgeon, he will do a true RNY to DS revision, and he and his dietician are fairly competent when it comes to supplementation. You can expect to be advised to initially take a multi (he formulated one himself..which helps cut back on other things we have to take but you do not have to take his), calcium, Vitamin A and Vitamin D he recommended iron supplement for me as well since ine was on low low end of normal. He adjusts other requirements based on labs the first year. I added my own NIacin, B12, ZOnc, and Biotin as well as some iron supplementation (Proferrin). My labs have been pretty much pristine (well except for iron..always always low end of normal).
Just my 2 cents.
If they have a true DS and NOT an erny then they rank among the few...not the many. Revisions can be tricky and I would want the most experienced surgeon around. His complicaton rate is tooo much for me.

Science. It means looking at the big picture, not one or two cases. Any surgeon can luck out and have a few good outcomes. What you need to know is how many revisions from RnY to a REAL DS have been done, what the complication rate was and what the DEATH rate was. I'm really glad your family are well but judging a surgeon by one or two cases can be a HUGE mistake.
The "vetted" revision surgeons are those that have enough statistics behind them, have done enough surgeries with very few if any complications or deaths. We list those for people for a reason.
Do your family members have a sleeve or a pouch? Do they have to chew chew chew their food, not use straws, not drink with meals?
