What we eat is important---but another key factor is supplements. Are you getting in your vitamins like you should?
I found that times when I was a little less careful with supplements I tended to eat more. I believe I was seeking out nutrition. I haven't had that happen in awhile since I'm so diligent with them and making sure my levels are the best they can be.
Our malabsorption has many facets and nutrition is one of them. If we don't get what we need, I truly believe our body is hungrier and makes us want to eat more so it can be fed. The reason it's important to eat well is to prevent that from happening. Junk food is not the end of the world but it doesn't have what we need to thrive (not just survive). The more junk we eat, the more we crave because we are starving (IMO).
I highly recommend that EVERYONE start the day with at least 30 grams of protein within 30 minutes of waking up. Build the days foundation with a solid dose of GOOD nutrition. It helps even things out, prevents sugar crashes and is just ideal for our bodies.
Protein is the wonder tool in our toolbelt. If you need to lose weight, eat protein and you lose. If you need to gain weight, eat protein and you gave weight (if you need it). If you need to maintain, again, EAT PROTEIN and you will maintain.
I'm 4.5 years out and my weight is decreasing. I eat junk like others do but my focus is on my 50 grams of protein first thing in the morning and then eat meal I try to put the focus on the protein. I don't snack often. I don't need to when I'm getting in the right foods at my mealtimes. I'm not perfect by any means but it's a constant effort.
