Returning to work after 5 weeks post op
Went pretty well. I wanted to post this because I know alot have questions on the post-op going back to work time.....I truly believe everyone heals at a different rate and we have to consider what we do as far as hourly shifts and lifting, etc. I work 12's and on my feet most of them. I have wonderful co workers who didn't let me move a patient. I am blessed. We watch out for each other for sure. We do that for each other whenever someone has surgery or injury. l
First off, I am a band to DS revision. Never in my life did I ever think these pounds would be shedding off. They are. SW was 240lbs. I weighed in this am and down to 207.0 . Every time I get on the scale my eyes look like the smiley face I posted . My hubby comments everyday that I am going to have to get new clothes soon because all my clothes are too big. I feel they are loose but not too big. My co workers were in shock like they haven't seen me in a year. They all told me how different I look and how much my face looks different.
I had to sit down a couple of times during my shift. If I walk too much I tend to get stomach cramps. I made sure I had my protein shakes and snacks, my water. And I work night shift so the bathroom was not a problem. I went twice but to be honest before the DS I was going more. Just bring your sprays with you...I was fine.
So far, I must say, this surgery has changed my life in so many ways so far. I feel better, I move better, and my feet and ankles were not swollen AT ALL after that shift. I am so happy I did this.

That's great news! 12 hour shifts aren't easy, and to be tolerating it so easily is fantastic!

I am so excited for you!! I'm glad things went well for you as you went back to work.
Now the loose clothes thing: listen to your husband : ) I was thinking mine were fitting just a little loose too, but today I wore a "new" pair of jeans that are 2 sizes smaller and I felt terrific wearing them! Until I put them on, I did not realize just how sloppy the other loose jeans looked or fit. With cheap clothes to be had at thrift stores and clearance racks, make sure you are treating yourself to some well fitting clothes -- it makes all the difference in the world!
