I was wondering why I am having so much heartburn and indigestion? I was taking my priolosic daily before surgery. I am afraid to start up on my pills since I don't have very much in my stomach. Just got home Thursday night.

I would keep taking it but talk to your surgeon. Acid reducers and such are a big help early out.

I was discharged from the hospital on an antacid which had to be changed a number of times until I found something that works for me. Call you surgeon,

Call the Dr. When I was discharged, they told me I would need to take protonix daily for the rest of my life. The only heartburn I have had was when I forgot to take meds one day and it was a great reminder that I need to make sure to take meds.

Oh, definitely start taking them!  I was discharged from the hospital with a 6 month prescription for Nexium.

I took an acid reducer for the first few months after surgery but never needed them again. I don't think it is a permanent problem for most DSers.

You said u just got home Thurs nite, but your surgery was on the 12th. Did you have to stay in the hospital for 2 weeks after your surgery?

I had to start taking Pepcid twice a day for reflux...not sure how long I'll need it but I'm gonna stick with it for a while.

My surgeon had me on prilosec twice daily.  Was suppose to be 3 months but it turn out to be 5 or 6
