Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone out there is familiar with Dr Pomp in NY. I've read about him and some reviews, seems like he's experienced. I'm looking to do revision RnY to DS. Anyone have personal experience with him or know why he's not on the list of folks that do this surgery?

Thanks for answering. If I may ask what did you have and why was it to complex for him?

There are very few surgeons who will do revisions, so many have to travel for them.  I believe Dr. Roslin does them in NY, though.

There are only a few surgeons in the country who are skilled and experienced on this complex revision. Choose carefully. I had this revision done 2 years ago.

after Gagner left the practice a few years ago, Pomp no longer had him to do revisions, there is a big differnece reading reviews that are revisions and virgins, personally I would not go to him, he can't handle a rny to ds.....suggest Roslin, Mitchell in NYC, he is a great surgeon.....

My first choice is Dr Antone ,Dr Roslin also declined to do my surgery for tecnical resons, DR A handle my casee with outhout any complication exactlly s dr gagner discribed it 8 years prior, and. Dr Dr rubininio of NYP rx also, but Pomp refused.

I had both my VSG and DS with Dakin at NYP and Pomp assisted on both, as they classified me as "complicated" and "high risk."  I like Dakin, but he's not especially "chatty" and Pomp actually had a great bedside manor.  I never saw him in the office, though.  I can't say enough good things about the whole NYP staff.  (And as a bonus, at NYP they routinely send the bariatric patients up to the 14th floor with private rooms, at no extra expense that I was aware of, but needless to say, a private room is a nice little luxuary.)

I'm not sure what list you're looking at as to who does this surgery, but in my experience many of these website lists are little more than paid advertisements, and frankly, I don't want a surgeon who needs to advertise to drum up business.  I can't find the site now (but will keep looking) but when I first was researching WLS, I looked both him and Dakin up and found one site that listed how many of each type of procedures each doctor had done, and I remember he had done a lot more than Dakin.
