some help please if you can
ok first let me say hello and thanks for any help you can provide. Like most folks its taken me ages to finally make some decisions. I had RnY gastric bypass 10 years ago, short story is I lost very little weight (various reasons Im sure) and now am all but back at my start weight. The hospital I had my surgery at closed their program less then a year after I had surgery so going back is not an option. After much reading and research I believe my best bet is a revision to a DS done laproscopicly. I was looking to go to Dr. Roslin in NY. He is out of network now for me after his aetna change. Like most folks money is an issue for me. All that being said I have started to look closer to home (40 minutes outside Philadelphia) then NY. NY sounded like a great program and Dr Roslin has huge experience with the revisions done Lap. Now I have to try to find someone in the Philly area. Every program just wants you to come in and listen to their confrence but I dont want to listen to a confrence if they dont even do the surgery. Finally the help part...if you know a good doctor in my area who does the gastric bypass revision to duodinal switch laproscopicly please let me know, also if theres someone I should avoid please let me know. I know it will be opinions but at least then I will have a path to look at. Thank you all again.

Hi Momulife, I can't help but just wanted to let you know that we are on the same journey. I am RNY and on the road to DS, going for my first appt with the surgeon on this coming Wed. My surgery is going to be open and I want it to be because of the complexity of it.
I hope you find the help you are seeking and good luck with your revision.
If Greenbaum is in network for you - don't sweat the open procedure vs. lap. My DS was open an it wasn't a big deal at all. Trust me, when all is said and done, even without my scar, there's no way I'm baring my stomach anyway without plastics, which can remove that scar altogether if I ever do it.
The last thing I want you to fall for is a doc convincing you that a ERNY has the same results. Many try to do that.

Here's the deal. Open or LAP you will have serious lifting restrictions for MONTHS postop. If you can't take the time off these activities it's probably better not to have the surgery at all. I don't want you to think you will be slinging around 100lb bags of feed at three months postop. This is serious surgery and I don't want to see you hurt.
