I delayed my surgery

I have been working on WLS since November, and was approved for the DS last week.  Originally I wanted it done ASAP and scheduled for the beginning of March, however, after careful consideration, and trying to make arrangements for transportation to and from the Dr. for post surgery care in the following weeks was very stressful.  In addition, I am in my last semester of graduate school, and while my thesis is complete, I still have revisions and ultimately have to defend in April in front of faculty and my thesis committee.  Where I go to school is 48 miles from where I live so I am or was concerned about commuting back and forth to school.

After, going through nutrition counseling and continued attendance of support groups, I realized that what I am about to do changes everything, and there is no "half steppin" for lack of a better term.  If my mind is on school, graduation and a recent promotion then when am I going to have time to focus on my health post surgery? I also considered that I have so much going on there would be no way I could rest (really rest my mind and body) and pay attention to making sure my water intake and vites are on point.  When I make the commitment to bettering my health I want to focus on that, and it be my first priority.  I am a little sad, but it is only an 8 week delay and in the long run I think this is the best choice.

You have obviously thought a great deal about it. Eight weeks is nothing, and I dont think you will ever look back and regret it. Kudos to you for analyzing this important decision so thoroughly! You'll do great when the time comes!

Sounds sensible.  I know it seems ages away, but the time will soon fly. ;-)

I think you are making a wise decision. This way you can give your full attention to finishing your rigorous school requirements and then when that is done, give yourself wholeheartedly to your DS recovery. Good luck to you! What is your thesis on, if I may ask?

Taking the time now to get everything aligned in your life will make for a much easier recovery later.

With everything you have to do for school those 8 weeks are going to fly. You will need the time after surgery just to relax and not have to worry about school and just get back on your feet after surgery. Good luck with your defense.
