5 Weeks and still 0

It's been 5 weeks of dieting now and I am still officially at 0 weight lost.  In the last week I have my protein at or above 150, my carbs are now below 30 (actual) fat over 150.  Still nothing.  I have been eating protein shakes and coffees with whipping cream. Meat and cheese.  Cream cheese pancakes, cloud bread, cottage cheese, chicken, ham and pork, bacon and sausage.  My calorie intake is almost 2800. That is scary.  Am I still on the right track?  Even before the DS I would have lsot weight by now.

One thing I don't have is current labs.  My Doc is a jerk and I am trying to find another one.  I am feeling more tired as the weeks go by.  Could there be something wrong with my labs that is preventing any weight loss?

Trying to keepy spirits up but it's getting very hard.\

I am not sure about anyone else but I would gain weight at 2800 calories.  In weight loss mode I keep mine at 1000.  I tried bumping it up a few times and I always gain.

I believe others are able to eat more than 1000 and still lose.  I would try 1500 and see what happens.

I've never counted calories and they're really not important to a DSer so long as you focus on protein and fat as you seem to be doing.

Have you taken your measurements?  You could be losing inches.  Also how much water are you getting in?  Try your best to get as much plain' ol' water as you can.  32-64oz of H2O is good if you can (minimum 64oz fluids).  I have a bottle of water in the bathroom and I often manage to get in 16oz in during my nightime bathroom visits.

You could also try posting on bites and vites so we can get a better idea of what you're having.  You sound like you're on track from what you've put and you could still be retaining fluid post op (which can be a lot of lbs for some).

Hang in there, it'll start working soon enough.

You might consider posting on the bites and bites thread and see if Gina can give you some suggestions

Time to find out what's up.  Go buy some ketosticks and cut them in half lengthwise.  That will double your number of tests per bottle.  Test your urine.  If you are not in ketosis, cut your carbs till you are.  Then stay in ketosis for a week and weigh.  If you stay in ketosis for a solid week and don't lose you may have a thyroid problem and you should get it tested.

The ketone bodies in your urine PROVE you are burning your own fat.  Here's why.  Fat is stored in your body as ATP(adenosine tri-phosphate).  When you burn fat you give up a phosphate and it turns to ADP(adenosine di-phosphate).  Ketone bodies hold the phosphates together and when the bond is broken the unattached ketone body is excreted in your urine.  And can be detected in your urine.

The idea is to find out how low you have to go on carbs to force your body to burn it's own fat.

There's some hidden carbs somewhere in what you are eating.  Something is keeping you from losing.

There are lots of people who will lose with carbs under 30.  I won't.  I need to go under 10 to really lose weight.  My other no-fail way to lose is to combine the very low carb with a gallon of plain mint tea every day then a week on and a week off.

Sorry you are having such a tough time!
