Protein and PDCAAS scores

I have been having a time with my NUT about which protein powders are good.  We all know that Isolates are best, and to stay away from protein concentrates and collagenized protein.  But not all Isolate protein formulas are equal.  So when she gave me a list of protein powders when I had my VSG, imagine my surprise that the same list isn't good enough for people who've had the DS.  I was so excited to have just "discovered" Syntrax Nectar (which is all whey isolate) only to be told now that it is not as absorbable for us DSers.

The team in her office has been going through protein formulas and getting the PDCAAS scores from those manufacturers that will supply them, and has started testing others.  This is the list she gave me.  It is not a complete list, but it's a start.

Does anyone else have PDCAAS scores?

Yes, Unjury is good.  Does it mix clear like if I were to add it to my Crystal Light?  Anyone know?

Also, my NUT said she heard back from Syntrax.  They said their score is 100, but when she calculated it was only 80.  She's waiting to hear their response, and I'll post it if/when she hears back.

Still would like to know if anyone else can add to this.

I use nothing but Syntrax Nectar and I can assure you we absorb the protein in them just fine. My albumin was 4.7 and my prealbumin is 46. The range for prealbumin in 17 - 34 and the range for albumin is 3.5 - 5.5 with a goal in the 4s. I think they are taking this a wee bit too far. The first ingredient in Nectar vanilla is whey protein isolate. That's about all I need to hear and it's sweetened with Splenda. I like JayRobb whey protein isolate too and it's sweetened with stevia.  Don't get tripped up by the NUTs.

Thanks Gina,

I am 5 weeks out from surgery, and searching and trying out protein mixes, and like the JRob as well.  The ones with Splenda tend to cause problems for me with cramps, bloating, and hemorrhoids.  Glad to hear that JRob is a good one for DS patients.  Right now, I am trying that and Syntrax.
