hubby update and BABY on the way
Hello all! My husband's DS was a little over 4 months ago and he is down to 298 from 415! Well, apparently all that weight loss helped the swimmers, because after nearly a year of trying, I'm expecting! I'm a little over 6 weeks along.
So, post DS mommies, what do I need to explain to my docs regarding my vitamins and malabsorbtion? I'm taking a list of DS labs to have done along with my pre-natal labs on Monday. I'm likely low in D and iron and possibly calcium. I've been taking my vits religiously since I found out, plus extra folic acid and pre-natal. (The doctor assured me you excrete what folic you don't absorb, so you can't really overdo it.) He did make mention that vitamin A in excess can be dangerous.
So, what was different about your pregnancy as a DSer vs any other pregnancy? I want to be proactive.
"Let us not glide through this world and then slip quietly into
heaven, without having blown the trumpet loud and long for our
Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Let us see to it that the devil will hold a
thanksgiving service in hell, when he gets the news of our departure from the field of battle." - C. T. Studd
Congratulations!
Keep getting all your labs done and taking all your vitamins as you normally do. Have them check your vitamin A to make sure your lab levels aren't high. Don't let the OBGYN give you DS nutritional guidance. If there is a DS surgeon following you and supporting your labs, stick with them.
Keep us posted! : )
