Vitamin D question

I am currently taking 2 - 50000 IU's of Vit D daily.  My Vit D was low.  I take them together, I have done both, an empty stomach and not.  What is the best to do?  Also, should I spread out the 2 pills.

I feel like everything I once knew about vitamins is now totally wrong w/my new config.

Thanks!

You might try taking once with a little food at dinner time and then take another one in the middle of the night when you get up to pee away from all your other vitamins and meds. If you don't usually get up at night, try to take one with at least an hour before and after with no other vitamins or meds.

Depending on your skin type, 6-8 minutes or tanning once or twice a week might help as well. There are also vitamin D3 sublinguals that might help a little. I like to try multiple sources and various ways of getting a vitamin into my system. I still take a 50,000IU capsule of dry D3 but I also tan 8 minutes once a week.

I am really fair and burn and turn red in 5 min.  Why is nighttime better?

I don't know that it's better, it's the way Vitalady has it listed on her schedule. You could try the 10,000IU sublingual in the morning and then take 2 more capsules of 50,000IUs in the evening and then one in the middle of the night. Whatever works best for your schedule. If you sleep during the day, then reverse the schedule.

I have read something about calcium absorption working better as we sleep and I suppose putting your D3 in the evening with your calcium might be a good idea. Not scientific or medical, just bits and pieces of what I've read.

Sounds like you definitely want to stay out of the sun and away from tanning beds.

I can answer the why at night question.  When we sleep our body slows down, including intestinal peristalysis.  Vites you take at bedtime tend to move more slowly through your system.  Does this work for us?  I honestly don't know.  I took a quick look for transit time studies on DSers and didn't find any.
