I will be having the EGD procedure soon.
I'm having the EGD procedure done next week. I had the Lap Band in 2008 it did not work for me. I had the Sleeve in 2009, I did lose about 30 lbs and gained about 15 lbs. I am hoping this will help me get to my goal. Right now I'm about 187 lbs.
Anyone out there been revised from the Sleeve to the DS? I already posted this on the Revision forum. The reason why I call this a revision, is because I had this Sleeve done thinking I did not need the DS part at the time. Also, I'm going with a new surgeon for the revision, Dr. Russell Gornechic, in Oklahoma City, OK.
Thanks in advance!
Hi Valerie,
He is pretty new with the DS but I know that he personally knows Dr. Stewart in Texas who has a great reputation as a DS surgeon. Anyway, is there a certain website that you can look up information on these surgeons besides here?
I appreciate your concern and thanks for chiming in. I have received replies from you before, thank you for input and your kindness. You are a very pretty lady, like your avatar picture. I will keep you all posted.
I have read quite a few people who praise him and say that he explains everything, takes his time with you. He will let me know if he can do the DS. He did say he would NOT recommend a RNY because I have had 2 previous wls and I could have a lot of scar tissue that could cause interruption of blood flow that would cause the tissue to die if there is no blood flow. I could have leaks and possibly die. I never knew that revisions from Sleeve to RNY were that dangerous.
Hi Auburnmist,
Yes, I really wish that I did not every chose the band. I would have done the DS - both parts at the same time. I don't know if my insurance would have approved it. Now that I have the sleeve I will go in for the 2nd part of the DS. The surgeon said that would take about 45 minutes or so. I appreciate you chiming in and sharing! Best wishes to you too!
Thanks for chiming in again Auburnmist. The doctor said that all he has to do is do the switch part. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly with no complication.
I haven't heard of your surgeon either but that doesn't mean he didn't study with Dr Stewart and learn to do the DS. You might just ask him how many he's done and if he did indeed study with Dr Stewart. You want to be double sure, and if he's good, it would be great to have a new DS surgeon to add to small group we have.
Wishing you nothing but the best.

Hi MajorMom, I don't know why I forgot to ask him that question of how many he has actually done. I will do that the next time we meet. I appreciate your input and kindness. (Love your avatar, that little Shihtzu is so cute!)
