Comment of the day "You are skinny"
on 2/10/13 7:21 am
I was told today when I went to the cafeteria by another employee. She said "You have changed in 2 weeks since I last saw you. You are skinny now. How much more weight are you going to lose, I really don't see 20lbs on your body to take off now." She herself has one month of dietary training and she is getting just the sleeve. She has watched me over the last six months. Those words were very powerful to me. "Skinny" I still have a ways to go to get to my goal. Even at my heaviest, I carried my weight well.
This past week, it's like the vets have said, one day you look in the mirror and poof the weight is gone and then the "sharpei" effect happens. That happened to me this week.
My thighs are down. My size "L" pants are way too loose. My size "M" sweatpants are loose. My size 14 jeans are too big to wear. As I write this, I'm thinking I'm a little over 6 months out, what am I going to look like at a year?
The fact that someone considers me skinny is amazing to me!
I hope this will encourage all the newbies - there is a light going over the rainbow!
Yes, I still have issues, it is what it is, and I have to work this surgery and make it work for me. I hope this gives some encouragement for the day when someone says to you "You are skinny".
Have a great week everyone!
Woot!! Good for you! : )

I remember all of that. Now people just know me at this size so I don't get the compliments but when I look in the mirror I see skinny and I really am tall and slim and I LOVE it.
So don't stop doing what you are doing. I thought I would stop loosing at a size medium and was thrilled to be there but Major Mom encouraged me to keep on keeping on and now I have size smalls that are loose!!!

Congratulations on your weight loss and the praise. I'm awaiting approval for my DS and hope to hear the same compliments myself one day.
It makes me feel a bit mad also to hear what you said. Having been overweight all my life I have often been the object of laughter and ridicule.
It just upsets me the way people can be you know. I mean when we are fat no one wants to come up to you and say Hi what a nice outfit you have on or what a nice hair cut but they sure don't mind letting you know how big you look or anything else.
I just wish people would understand that words can hurt just as much as they can make you feel good. What a one sided world we live in.
Hey...I want to be skinny.....JUST LIKE YOUUUUUUUUU:) Congrats!!!! I can't imagine!!!!!

Thanks all ... It was so great to hear those words! I had texted my BFF to tell her yesterday. Then last night when I got off work we talked for a long time. My legs are not skinny by any means, just the fact that someone considers me that way is so awesome!!!
@jdh, Please do not put any energy toward anger for people's ignorance about weight issues. It is so sad that people look at people differently because of weight. It is what it is.
I have a male friend from the city where I used to live. The company I worked for moved me to 2 different cities. He and I have become really close (not a relationship) just friends. When I was speaking with him on the phone one day after my surgery, I showed him something online. He said "I've never heard this term "MO"" How could anybody be "MO"? I said "I was" according to the Dr's/charts etc. He said "You were big but not that big". He has never had a weight problem nor have any of his family except one brother (7 children). He did not mean any ill will. He was literally shocked to find out I was MO (I had seen him the month before surgery). I didn't take offense to it because I didn't let my mind go the negative/angry route. I very easily could have.
Then another male friend of mine looked at my before pics. He said "I just don't remember you being that big." So, perception is everything in this world.
Yay, congrats!! ;-)
