Calcium Question

I switched this month to Upcal D.  Which on the package it says Calcium Citrate 2500mg (500mg elemental)

I have been taking 4 a day with some extra on some other days.

My question is this:  How much of the 500 do we absorb?  Does anyone know?

I am going to take this for the remainder of this month and switch to the Bone Booster.

Every one is different in how much gets absorbed. So there is no way to tell.

But you should be taking a minimum of 2000mg elemental of calcium citrate, so it looks like you are doing well.

I did an unscientific study of past threads on this site a few months ago. There were some who didnt take upcal because of, sorry, I cant recall exactly the reason.

Very few people take upcal.

My reasearch pointed me to Bone Booster complex. I "pop" a lozenge or chew periodically just to get another form of calcium. Calcium citrate is heavily recommended, but I saw people who were taking citrate who later had poor bone scans. Thus, I switched.

If you want more info on upcal, search DS and upcal, and you should be able to find more details.

I would do 6 packets a day to get the elemental calcium up to 3,000mg per day. Ease into it. Add another packet and see how you do, then add another.

Thank You all.

As soon as I finish the Upcal D, I am switching to the Bone Booster.

Thanks for recommending me searching for it!  After reading what I read, I will be switching.

Does anyone know if there is injectible that anyone knows about?  It would be so much easier!!!  Just like my B12.

No, you can't get your calcium thru injections.  Wi**** was possible, but it is not.
