OK...I'm gonna do it....We need to talk poop
Yes, it is OTC and no, not chewable but the pills are so tiny, it doesn't matter.
Prevacid did NOT help me, I am using the OTC version of Protonix.
And while one a day may help, many of us take two a day.

I'm almost three years out...and yes, it does get better because my eating habits change. Too much carbs cause high stank.
When I eat my vanilla cookie filling, the stank can peel the wall paper....something I can not stand about the ds, but I do look good. I just need to control what I eat. Does it get better, just a little, it all depends on what you eat, and you adjusting to what your body can tolerate.
I've only had burning when I've eaten a hot pepper! But as for constipation it is a reality that you must really work to avoid. The large amount of calcium we take must be balanced with enough fat or constipation may result. For I while I took Magnesium Oxide to keep from being constipated. There are lots of other ideas and remedies but the best thing is to get enough fat.
The smell has gotten much better. I remember how awful it was at first but I don't think it is any different now from anyone else.

I felt exactly the same as you right after surgery. It felt like battery acid was coming out. Mine got better very quickly and stopped burning. I did start taking a ppi and that helped. The floating stuff is fat you are passing. That is why it is light colored. Mine is still light colored. The thing that helps me the most with the smell is burning a match. Every air freshener I've tried smelled like DS mixed with scent. Even grosser. The match burning actually hides it completely.
