I know, I know. Sooo, if you do not like to talk about personal things please look away and go to the next new post. I am a nurse and I have seen. smelled and wiped my share of poop...but a DS poop is something I NEVER encountered. Yellow, floating and feels like on fire. Does this go away????? Or darken back up a little. I never had BM issues but I sure do now. I guess it is still something I need to get used to amongst everything else. And yes, I will be in search of Poo Pouri.....Dove body spry works well too....

It will get better. Some people even get normal again.

Reading what Gina put, I may be enroute to 'normal'.  It's definitely improved for me over time (I'm 6 months out).  There's room for more improvement though so I'm looking forward to that.  Once you're a little further out you'll find it's very much diet related so stay on the straight and narrow Atkins path as best you can.

I go from loose to pudding consistency, and yes, it stinks. The odor has a lot to do with what you eat. Simple carbs and uncooked milk make huge odors for me.   Probiotics take the sour quality out of the aroma and also assist in thickening up.  Most get a reliable schedule with the poo, and it's loose, but not in any problematic way.

I concur with Valerie.

Thanks for I need to take my probiotic now.

When I eat too much high carbs before I go to bed, it can be off the chain. I love vanilla cookie filling....but every time I eat them....too much carbs my stuff stank.

I think the only problematic thing is that it literally burns...from first BM since surgery. Then Iam guessing i didn't get enough water in but it was hard....felt like Ihad a baby:/

I would guess not enough water or fat - or if you're still taking pain killers, this can harden and even constipate.

Also, the burning, as already suggested, may be from acid.  I get that when I eat chili or soup with a tomato base, myself.  If you're not taking Prilosec or Nexium, it would be a good idea to start.

Burning can be an acid issue... are you taking a PPI? I had this problem post-op for the first 3 weeks but when I upped my Prevacid to twice a day it stopped.

I had OHIP approved Duodenal Switch surgery with Dr. Dennis Hong at St. Joseph's Hamilton on March 7th, 2012. Want more information on the DS in Ontario? Send me a private message!
