Working out hard, how many carbs should I have?
I am going to be starting my intense workout plan on Feb 25th. I know I will need to up my protein to above 200g a day but I have no idea how many carb I should have. This isn't running or slight weight lifting, this will be pretty intense. Is 100g to little when expending that much energy?
What are your suggestions?

Forgot to add that I am not looking to lose weight on this program, I just want to tone up and turn my soft area's into hard areas.
All I can say is good for you!!! All I do is walk and train my dog. I would like to join a gym and just do a tiny bit of strength work but I would have to have a trainer because I have no idea what to do and I can't afford that. So I try to be happy with my "soft" parts and not worry about it. I am VERY proud of you.

Your so sweet Becky, Thank you!
I am finding my old self again. My old self was competitive, strong, eccentric and happy with herself. I want to reach that again. I love sports and when I played last year (when I was still losing weight) I realized I want to run faster, I want to throw harder, and I want to be agile again. I want to jetski, inter tubing, and rafting in a bikini again. Granted my tummy might never fully recover but until I pop out kids I need to wait for surgery. Till then I want to be active! I want my kids to be active! I want to coach my kids in sports like my parents did. This world won't hold me back! My goal to complete NSV's now. I am happy with my weight, now I just want to push my body even harder!
I totally understand. The main reason I wanted to loose weight was so that I could do my chosen sport better. I used to have to sit down several times during a one hour class...now I can do a 90 minute class and then an hour private lesson and keep going.
I really get what you say about finding your old self. I lost my confidence completely at some point. I'm a lot older than you are but I still hope that I can find that confidence again and find a man who is "normal" who I can spend the rest of my life with. I have hope but still working on the confidence part!!
Sending you great wishes for enjoying this next part of your journey!!!

I think the 200 grams of protein will be plenty and you can play it by ear on the carbs, but I doubt you'll need any extra.

Carbs burn very quickly, so if you up your carbs, it shouldn't be a daily total, but to give you a burst of energy for your workouts, so you'll eat them just before your workouts. Protein, on the other hand, will build up the muscles you break down with workouts and give you a slow burn of energy.

Good suggestion, I don't want to eat a full meal before workout. So grabbing a high carb snack would be perfect. Maybe a banana or even some berries. mmm I am looking forward to spring and summer again for all the fresh fruit. HUCKLEBERRIES! They always say take in a good dose of protein after your workout. Just like you said you have to replace that protein.
Fresh or frozen berries would be awesome!

You are doing it and will continue to do so! Might I add, you will make a great Mom!
You will need some complex carbs, how many as a DSr, I don't know - it's probably a YMMV. 200 grams of protein a day is good to build because that will mean you have 120 grams a day for your body to use to build muscle.
Best of luck to you!
