Confession, revelations, questions
Hello everyone! I have been away for a while, but frequently lurk. I am a revision, rny, 2004, and distal 2009. Never lost to goal either time.
Confession! I have never truly eaten the way i should have been! I have always tried to eat what I tried to justify as high protein, low carb. I have always thought that grilled meats made my stomach hurt, so I ate breaded fried chicken, breaded everything in the fryer was my go to. I was getting ready to go forth with a 3rd revision to a DS sometime this spring. I got sidetracked with an unexpected neck surgery which has put my ds on hold again. I was told that I would be out of commission for three months.,!$%^^, PANIC! I knew that if I did no****ch it very close that I would start a re-gain that I would not have the will power to turn around. I decided since I was on liquids and then soft foods due to the surgery that I would make it low carb. I lost weight! YES ME! I lost 10 pounds! That has given me the motivation to continue. When I started back on solid foods, my weight went back up for a few days. ( also keep in mind that vicodin is constipating). I stayed on track for 3 weeks, and have lost no more, (most likely because of being so far out, and a revision) I allowed my self to have some carby foods over the past weekend. I did not go crazy, but had what I wanted.
Revelation! My stomach started the same burning feeling, I felt like a truck had run over me! It did not take any effort for me to get right back on my eating plan! I am amazed at the difference!
Questions: Beans. I am so craving them! should I or shouldnt I? I also am unsure about whether to eat high fat or not since I am a distal revision.
Sorry, I feel like a newbie with all these questions! I always told people I am a little slow! I have always been the kind of person that has to learn by experience!
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Michele
Beans are fine for most but anything more than a small serving gives me gas so try them caution... Just a small amount to start with.
You should try an antacid for your stomach if you're not already on one.
Re revision, how much do you have left to lose?

Will the carbs in the beans prevent weight loss?
I weigh203, 5'7 would love to be at 150, but would even settle for 175. Revision not only for weight loss, but was ahving hypoglycemia, issues with what I thought was solid protein intolerance. Calcium also does a number on me. I have not tried it since being strict low carb, I will when I am done with pain meds.
Thanks for yor reply
They may affect your loss, but you'd have to monitor and see. I'm by no means a carb Nazi. I get 120g protein a day minimum (often a lot more). I'm getting away with nuts, which some people say can slow loss. I only delve slightly into beans, so just keep an eye on how you're doing. I'm lucky in that I've not needed to count carbs.
