How soon after surgery were you able to tolerate raw vegetables and/or lettuce?  Actually find myself craving a salad with blue cheese dressing.

I am 6 mo out.  I still can't do raw veggies.  Steamed yes but I focus on the protein.  About 3 months out - I craved "Salad"

I ate the Wendy's 1/2 a Apple Pecan Chicken Salad - 3-4 times a wee****il I got burned out... Now, I just have one every couple of weeks.  When I would get it, it would take me "literally" 2 hrs to eat.

I too craved my Spring Mix & Spinach.  I ate that a lot prior to surgery.  So, I think it's just in my system.

I couldn't do salad for a long time and still don't do it well. BUT, cheddar cheese & bacon pieces covered with blue cheese dressing? OH YES.... that I can do :)

It took me several months before I could enjoy it.  If you're really craving it, be sure to try when you've got nothing going on afterwards, in case your stomach gets upset.  If you're craving he blue cheese - how about some chicken wings, instead?  A few bites of celery with some wings may not be as hard on you and give you a good protein boost.

Try this, instead of a full on "Salad". Try having your protein atop some veg. Then eat some protein and some veg. Steak is great cause then the steak juices can coat the lettuce. If it wasn't for the nice fat you wouldn't even need the dressing.

That's a really good idea - thank you all for your help!

I first tried some salad with protein at 3 months.  My system wasn't thrilled with it, but it was worth it.  I have  just a spoon full of chopped salad (lettuce, cabbage, carrots, etc.) with chicken and both Asian and Mexican style dressings. I also got the Asian Chicken Salad at Togos.  I could only eat about half  a cup of it, but it was sooo good to have that fresh veggie crunch again!
