This is a bad day
You'll get there..it may take time but you will.
1) Either get rid of or hide the scale...do NOT weight until AND unless you are in a doctor's office.
2) Make sure you are getting all your protein and fluids.
3) Take measurements MONTHLY. I lost inches when I didn't lose weight.
Duodenal Switch (Lap) 01-24-11 | Surgeon: Stephen Boyce | High weight: 250 in 2002 | Surgery weight: 203 | Lowest weight: 121 | Current weight: 135 | Goal weight: 135
I can only wish I had lost like you...I will be 5 months out Feb 11 and I have only lost 51lbs. I stay under 50 carbs, try to get over 100 in protein, but really don't count calories...I was considered a lightweight and have read for me the average wt loss is 2-3lbs weekly....I know that if I had not had the surgery, I would probably be 300lbs by now...I feel so much better...I experience up and downs...my body will play with 3 or 4 lbs for a week or longer before it will let go of it...I have a long way to go and as Patty said, I was not one of the ones that got a free ride...I also see the posts...I have lost 120 lbs in 5 months...it makes me want to crawl back in bed and stay there, but I am older(57) and do not want another surgery so I must work with what I have. I am also only 5'1 and post menopausal....so my surgeon warned me that I had the tool, but I must do the work...Good Luck to you and I think you are doing great!!!!
Its just a bad day. Go back to the DSfacts website and re-read the part about the plateau and the explanation on the sabertooth tiger. I think I read that thing twice a day for about two weeks straight. By the way, I was only at about 30 pounds at 1 month out and at 6 months next week, I am currently at 92 pounds so I haven't gotten my 100 yet either. I am at 55% of my goal and very proud of that. It takes a little while to trust that the DS is actually going to work for us because we have been disappointed so many times by all kinds of promises made on weight loss. It will work for you. Hang in there.
If I was physically there I would give you a good shake. This is why we had a 'mental' test before surgery, to see if you could handle the roller coaster ride your about to go on. WAKE UP! Stop comparing yourself to others and stick to the basics! It took me a whole year to lose 100lbs and guess what...YMMV! You lost a lot of weight and your body is saying WTF! Yes, you stall early out for that very reason. Yes, I am giving you a scolding because you need to get a hold of yourself! Stop self sabotaging yourself and give yourself some credit. YOU CAN DO THIS! Stop doubting yourself and stop being negative. GET OFF THE SCALE, if you can't handle the fluctuations. It will save your mental sanity. Ok now that I am done scolding you, you can give me a hug. ;p
Hey I appreciate the scolding. My good friend actually scolds me daily saying "stop that s**t!". It helps. As another poster mentioned with the years of being disappointed with weight loss it was a natural response to a wt gain of 10 pounds.
I've changed a few things---using heavy cream mixed with water in my shakes, taking a gallon jug of water to work, taking my walks, joined the gym, trying to eat every few hours (cheese, etc), reaching out to my doctor. I just wanted to hide but I'm trying to pull myself out of the funk. I'm losing inches (which seems odd when one gains wt) which is nice but....
I have always compared myself to others which has been my downfall. I do appreciate your encouragement and caring.
