This is a bad day

I am a slow loser too.  I have lost 65 lbs in 5 months.  I lose a lb here and there but nothing like other people.   It's okay to feel the way you do.  I feel this way sometimes too.  My bet is that you are not really gaining weight.  You are having water weight and hormonal stuff like other people have said.  You may not get to be tiny (and I probably won't either) but you are going to get much smaller than you are now.  Have faith and give the DS some time to do its work.

I feel you and I appreciate your acknowledging my feelings.

My friend asked me today "what's the rush" when I told her about the weight gain.  Unfortunately when you've been so heavy for so long as many of us have you feel impatient to fit into those theater seats, being able to walk and breathe at the same time, etc.  I'm trying to keep the faith but it's been a rough day.  I'm looking forward to being able to advance my diet so I can try to make this work for me.  Another issue is that I have to have another EGD later this month so there may be something mechanically going south.  As I say my doctor is pretty responsive so the hope is that this will work out.

I really appreciate your reply.

I had my surgery on 12/18 too.  So far I have lost only lost 26 pounds!  I am so jealous that you have lost 43!  That is amazing to me.   Although now it is 35, I suspec****er weight retention issues.

I have followed the diet to a tee.  I use myfitnesspal and eat less than 30 carbs a day, 900 calories and over 70 grams of protein a day.  I feel like I am losing very slow.   Such as it has been my entire life.

My common channel is 100... I do not regret the surgery but I had high hopes of losing faster than I am.

I would be soooo happy if I lost 35 by now.  So just know you are doing way better than me and I have not cheated one time!

Edited to add... now I think I am getting a bit discouraged and sad about my slow weight loss!  I think tomorrow I am doing a 0 carb day.

I had asked my doc for a cc of 100 cm but because I live out of state he rec 150 cm.  You will lose the weight.  It's always been my hope that if you do the right thing as you are doing that it will pay off.    Please don't be discouraged....I didn't mean to have my downer day bring anybody down.  I've been reading about stalls and prayed it wouldn't happen to me but here we are.

I promise I'll keep going if you will :o)

My protein shakes are 100% whey as recommended but I may need to switch to one with 0-1 carbs if there is such a thing because 5 scoops equals 15 gm of carbs for the day so 20 carbs or less doesn't leave much.  Any thoughts?

I use Isopure 100% Whey Zero Carb.  I like the Dutch Chocolate flavor, not too hyped about the vanilla unless I blend it with a banana.

They have a lot of different flavors to chose from.

You need to eat more. Seriously. 900 calories? You need to eat twice that.

The vets can weigh in on this but I think that you need to increase your protein and fat.  900 calories is too low.

How many calories do you eat a day in WL mode?   I have never been successful at losing weight over 1000 calories ever.  It seems to good to be true.

I never really counted calories, just grams of protein. You need a minimum of 100, and that's 400 calories right there---not to mention all the lovely fat that usually accompanies good, tasty protein-rich foods. (Think bacon!)

You've also got to take in consideration DS Math. That 400 calories of protein? You're only absorbing about HALF of protein calories, and only 20% of fat calories. Complex carbs, you absorb about 60% of. (Alas, you're absorbing nearly 100% of simple carbs.)

I had surgery the day before you (12/17) as of today I am down 31lbs since surgery.  So even with the 10lb regain, you are down 33lbs correct?  I think that's pretty good!  That's almost 5lbs PER WEEK!

I really wouldn't worry too much.  I step on the scale daily, but I don't let it dictate my day.  I have a 120cm common channel, and I can eat a pretty good amount (see the bites/vites thread).

I was a little depressed when I found out that sugar and carbs don't bother me the way they do other people.  I was hoping to have that negative feedback to keep me from over-induldging.  But I don't.  So I have to make more of an effort NOT to eat those things.  But that's just life.  We all have to make do with what we got :)
