Freaking Plateau!
I know I posted before about this, but geez... I haven't lost a pound since the New Year :( I take in barely any carbs, I count my calories. I'm exactly 2 months 2 days out... down 45lbs. My jeans were feeling loser but now I have lost that feeling. One month plateau already :( 4 weeks.. I'm so discouraged right now... Watch ill be the one that fails TWICE!
What is the longest plateau anyone has had?? (to narrow it down, in the six 6 months post op)
It's possible you are not eating enough...
1) Do NOT count calories...we aren't normal.
2) GET OFF the scale...hide it, throw it away...do not weigh unless you are at the doctor.
3) Carbs totally depend on what you eat...the closer to animal, the better. Example, the carbs in milk are good for us, the carbs in starches are not. Starches are plant based not animal based.
You've lost 45 lbs in 8 weeks, that averages 5.6 lbs every week!
4) It's entirely possible due to your trying to restrict calories (see number 1), you aren't eating enough protein/fat.
5) Stalls happen, read this: Weight Loss Stall or Plateau
FWIW, my longest stall was from Sept 2011 (surgery was the 24th of Jan 2011) to Feb 2012. That is FIVE months long.
At the end of two months, I had only lost 45 lbs as well. You are pretty much right on track.
Duodenal Switch (Lap) 01-24-11 | Surgeon: Stephen Boyce | High weight: 250 in 2002 | Surgery weight: 203 | Lowest weight: 121 | Current weight: 135 | Goal weight: 135
What Southern Lady said I agree with 110%. Take her advice, especially about upping protein and fats.
The more you eat it seems like the higher your metabolism goes. When I was at your point I was eating protein bites almost constantly. I never left the house without two bags (one cold, one not) of protein. I am serious I never stopped eating.
I went from 262 to 139 eating this way. I added fats where I could and kept those devil carbs low. And drank about a gallon of water a day. I still drink constantly but I now eat more like meals with snacks. I don't have to constantly eat any more.
You are doing great.

It will pass but you say that you are hardly taking in any carbs. How many carbs are you taking in on average? You do know that we do need some carbs right? Others have mentioned that sometimes its good to shock the body with a single higher carb day to get things started again. I have tried it and it seemed to work for me so far. Valerie had posted that spinach dip was a miracle food and boy was she right. Don't have it before going out or having company over but a definite cleanser...
I am 4 months 3 wks out and some days I have lost 50, other days 45...I wish I had lost 45 in 2 months....I get very discouraged, but if I had not had surgery, I would probably have gained 20 to 30 more by now. By the way I was weighted on Jan 3, and I have only lost 5 lbs since then, and did not lose any during December. I would like to hear from other slow losers that eventually lost... But I have to work with what I have and I am keeping the faith that my DS will work. I am in my fifties, female, 5'1 and my metabolism was shot. Hoping my body will stop resisting and kick into gear....Good Luck!!!!.
