Questions?? Questions?? Questions??

I would like to know some of the different protein supplements that are low in sugar and still taste good?? Also to those who have already had surgery, about how much protein were you getting in right after surgery?

I use the Syntrax Nectar protein supplements...just the chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. I use the vanilla and add a little cinnamon, 1/2 & 1/2 (4 oz), shake and add 8 - 10 oz of brewed coffee (or decaf) on top.

In the early days I was getting maybe 60 grams a day but was able to increase it to 120 grams fairly quickly. I eat too but I don't count those protein grams but I'm very aware of the carbs in food.

Do they have unflavored?

Yes, it's called Syntrax Medical. I understand it's one of the least tasting "unflavored".

Thanks so much! I have tasted alot of different proteins but the less sugar it tastes horrible. Leaves a after taste.

I found the best tasting protein drinks were hidden in coffee flavors.  As for "unflavored", I can always taste whey protein no matter what.  Taste preferences are very personal, so get single servings of different kinds before investing in a whole tub.

My doc insisted that I get 100g of protein right out of the gate.  Others take a more progressive approach:  30g in 30 days, 60g in the next 30 days, 90g the next, and so on, until you work to 100g.

120 is easily attainable if you eat strategically.   Most important early out, though is 64oz of fluids in any way, shape, or form from the get-go.

Right after surgery?  Hell all I could do was try to get some fluids in.  I wasn't getting protein for probably 3 weeks.  Then it went quick and during my weight loss period I stayed well over 100 easily.  I ate protein ALL DAY LONG.  Little bites constantly.  I didn't leave home without protein packed to go.

Try not to worry.

Well I just noticed with my sister and mom it was hard for them to get the protein in the first week. I know my nutrionist is tired of me asking questions, but I will be on this forum for advice.
