I am diabetic (altho resolved) and my eyesight is still improving even 2 years later. I reached goal in Sept 2011 (about 8 months after surgery) and got new glasses then...WOW it was a big difference, but this year I improved even more.

Yes, they ARE connected, esp if there is a condition like BP or diabetes that affects your eye sight.

I am a year and four months out. I just went to the eye dr four days ago. I cant see far away, and my far away vision actually improved. My close up vision is great, but I was noticing problems with focusing at the in between distances. I'm 48. My dr told me it was all part of the aging process, and gave me a detailed anslysis about my lens and light, etc which I really didnt care to follow!

My dr says once you hit 40, your eyes start to "change" and that is exactly what happened to me. Thus, I dont think you can totally blame the surgery. I hate to attribute it to the aging process, but it happens.

Interesting about Vit A. I have always heard vit a associated with night blindness/vision and that it was irreversible.

Being only 5 weeks out, it may or may not be linked, but either way, time to see a doc about it.

I will be 6mo out on friday.  The last weigh in I had lost 121lbs.  I've been to the eye Dr on 4 different appt since surgery.  Each time left with a different Rx.  I did not get them filled.  It is tied to the weight loss plus our Vit A.

Plus, I'm 49 so hormones also have something to do with it.

My eye Dr is great.  Says, I really need to watch Vit A (although it is fine for the moment).

Yes, it is all tied together.  Just know that your eyes are going to change.  I have not got a prescription filled yet.  I work with readers.  Next month, I'm thinking I will be 7 mo out and maybe (as my eye Dr says) my eyes will calm down and not change so much.  Hang in there!

If you get readers, be sure and get the one's which are the same as going to a Optical.  Not the Dollar store ones.  My eye Dr says, Foster Grants are ok from Target too.

I thought I was imagining it at first, but I noticed also that my eyesight changed quite a bit as early as the week after surgery (for the worse).  Waiting until I'm a little further out to go back for a new prescription.

I am 8 years out.

My vision improved from -2.75 to -1.5.

I did get some abnormal glaucoma tests for a couple years they theorize was because of fat loss and pressure changes. They have corrected themselves now.

I have always used Vita4Life and supplemented extra dry A.

I did not have diabetes either.

So I'm not helpful except to say get your A checked.

And someone also told me low or high sugar can cause this. Are your eyes always blurry or does it come and go? Does eating help it? Make it worse?

Surgery on 4/25/05 , Dr. Alverdy in Chicago.  God Bless the DS !!!
