reading this makes me a bit fearful. As a nurse I have to inspect my patients skin which means I have to lift. Now I can get around it and have the CNAs do it but my job will not like this. They will expect me to be able to lift. I am going back to work two weeks after surgery. hmmm.
Make sure you have IN WRITING from your doctor what you can and cannot do for a set amount of weeks, regarding 1) going back to work and 2) limited duty. IF you are on limited duty from your doctor and not allowed to lift more than a set amount, they can NOT EXPECT you to lift.
As for going back after 2 weeks...most who have anything other than a straight desk job end up being out 6-8 weeks. Even having a desk job is pushing it for anything under a month. With a nursing type job, I personally would not plan on being back at work any sooner than 6 weeks.
