Need most up to date list of surgeons who preform the revision from RNY to DS

I am just starting this journey, I had an open RNY in 2004, only lost about 80 lbs, stopped losing after 7 months, but I was a lightweight at 220 lbs at 5'2". Keep the weight off for about 7 years, then had a hysterectomy in 2011.  Have been gaining since and now I am up 45 lbs. My diet has not changed much, I do eat some things I shouldn't, but for the most part stay true to the diet. I have talked with my surgeon (Dr. Steely) and he would no even discuss a revision. Then went to Dr. Houston in Nashville and the same thing, not a good option, the surgery doesn't work. Of course, neither of these surgeons preform the revision, so I was not really surprised. I know there are only a few who do this surgery, and I need to know how to get started, since all of them are out of state for me (I live in TN). Can everything be done by the phone and thur e-mails? What about the tests like the Upper GI or Endoscopy, can my pc doctor order these for me and send the results to the DS Surgeon? I need help, so anyone with information please tell me how you did this. Thanks so much.

PLEASE THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO BEFORE YOU ACT. PERSONALLY I DONT RECOMMEND DR. UNGSON FROM MEXICO. DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST!

There are only a handful of surgeons who do this very complex revision. Dr. Ungson, mentioned by Ale, does not do this revision.

Your best list of DS surgeons can be found at dsfacts.com. I don't recall if that website has a separate list of revision surgeons. The ones who come to mind offhand are Dr. Stewart in TX (probably the closest to you), Dr. Roslin in NYC, sometimes Dr. Greenbaum in NJ, Dr. Buchwald in MN, and of course Dr. John Rabkin in San Francisco and Dr. Ara Keshishian in the los angeles area. I think Dr. Simper in AZ may also be doing them now.

Here is the most up to date list:

Dr. Keshishian, located in California

Dr. Rabkin, located in California

Dr. Stewart, located in Texas

Dr. Simper, located in Utah

Dr. Elariny, located in Virginia

Dr. Roslin, located in New York

Dr. Buchwald, located in Minnesota

Of course, the above doctors are in the United States

Dr. Baltasar, located in Spain

Dr. Marchesini, located  in Brazil

Dr. Gagner in Canada and Dr. Greenbaum are also experienced surgeons, but please use caution, and RESEARCH!!!!!!!!!!!

As some here will point out...there are probably a few others who "do" this revision.  However, they have not done enough or have enough expertise to be on this list.  This is the list of the most highly experienced and reputable surgeons.  These are the surgeons who are the most supported in this DS community as the surgeons to go to for a TRUE RNY to DS revision.

Dr. Keshishian did my revision. I had several phone consults with him and my PCP handled all my pre op labs and testing. I flew out to CA on Sunday, then spent most of Monday and Tuesday in the office. Surgery was Wednesday. I stayed locally for about 10 days then flew home. My PCP followed me post op but I stayed in close contact by phone and email with Dr. K.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info, I am trying to find a surgeon who doesn't charge the additional fees that insurance won't cover. Don't have an additional $3,000 - $10,0000. Hope to find a surgeon who accepts Highmark BC/BS (secondary is TriCare).
