Need surgen for BPS/DS in Lafayette,La 70506 area
Please go to a vetted surgeon and dont settle for someone who is conveniently close just cause they say the can do it... 75 is not nearly enough to trust that surgeon. You want someone with much more than that under their belt because it is so difficult. Dr Stewart is well worth the travel, trust me I am 10 days post op and I traveled from just south of New Orleans to him because of his reputation. You need a good PCP that is willing to do blood draws. There are plenty of people that travel for a good surgery, this is your life you want the best. Please do your research since you will have to advocate for yourself a lot. Dont be afraid to ask questions and please read these boards. There are a lot of people with good info on here always will to help.
Yes I had my switch from lapband to ds on jan 23. Dr Stewart is my surgeon...Trevor should be able to answer lots of questions. Sue is the one that will be one the phone with you afterward going over labs, preop & post op class. Their office is willing to answer all your questions, I did a phone consult with Stewart since I was also from out of town. I had a list of questions ready and he was able to answer all my questions and made me feel like I made the right choice in surgeon. I chose to do my procedure at Forest Park hospital in Frisco and the hospital is new as it was just opened last June. Absolutely nothing but great things to say, very clean, awesome nurses, I was given a VIP suite which was larger than my hotel room that I stayed in. My family always felt welcome and had their own room to hang out in with their own TV, fridge sofa and recliner. I also had my own tv and chair. I stayed from wednesday til saturday. So far so good. YOUR WELCOME
I am at 4 months post op down 58lbs still a work in progress. Getting all my vitamins in and still adjusting from whatever my labs reflect. I do listen to the vets faithfully for what matches my situation best. So far I have had no complications from my revision with Dr. Stewart. I drove to Texas from south Louisiana I admit it was a long drive that I made with my husband but I did fly home and it was well worth the money for the flight. There are several people that drove both ways but for me flying home was much easier. I didnt need hardly any clothes for my trip and I did over pack tremendously. I know I made the best decision for me.
Absolutely, definitely want to make the right choice for you the first time with a vetted surgeon. Have you checked out the site www.dsfacts.com has a lot of great info also. There are a few people that I am friends with on Facebook from south La, some of which have traveled to Stewart some made other choices but being part of support groups is so beneficial beyond belief. Hopefully all your answers will be answered Tuesday. Have a safe trip.
