Gray Hair

Just wondering... My hair is too fragile for color and/or highlighting.  So, I keep trimming it. My hairstylist told me that I went from about 20% gray hair to about 65% gray hair since my surgery.  I just wondered if this had happened to anyone else?

I am going to have to live with it for awhile.  My hairstylist said my hair is way toooooo fragile to do anything with it.

I don't want to cut it off because I have naturally curly hair and it would not look right!

I guess it depends on how old you are as to whether you learn to live with it. Mine added more gray but at 58, I earned all of them!

Some people just turn gray early, some late...

A friend of mine with long curly hair just had the worst lifeless loo****il she got a good cut with some layers. The difference was astounding.  For others, the old hair just sheds away a little at a time making room for new healthy hair.  With my shorter cut and layers, the only person who noticed was me.   As for the grey - I've heard of people going grey after traumatic events, and I guess a major surgery might qualify.  Maybe some semi-permanent color that won't try to strip the hair will give you some color dimension without damage.

Following up on Val's idea, I just heard about this:

semi-permanent.

L'Oréal Paris Healthy Look Crème Gloss Hair Color, $9.99, which fades within 28 washes.

"For the best results, stay within two shades of your natural tone," says Clairol colorist Marie Robinson, who works with Michelle Williams.
