Open DS'er Hernia Question

Hey there fellow Open DS'ers

 

How did your hernia change you?  How did it  feel?  Did you have an active/physical job prior too and how did that hernia effect your ability to do your job?

 

My job as a corporate trainer was physical but not strenuous.  I had discomfort with my hernia, but it didn't interrupt my job until I had it removed very quickly.  I took 2 weeks off for surgery and recovery.

My hernia was quite large and affected my clothes fitting and was painful at times. Plus....I looked about six months pregnant. I had it repaired plus a tummy tuck and took 10 days off.

Due to my physiology (weird armor plating type of thing at surgical site) my surgeon said we'll just have to wait and see. My body apparently reacts very weirdly very rapidly when it thinks it's in danger. The upside / downside is I'm not back to work and don't know if I will be, at least not at that job anyway.
