what did you pay for your DS?

I was self pay and it cost me $18,500 plus about $500 for the hotel.  All in.  Got my surgery within a month.

Believe me, what you see billed to an insurance company from a hospital will be VERY different than what is billed for a self-pay in the USA.  In the states, you can call the hospital and find out what the daily hospital rate will be and the approximate surgical cost (that does not include the surgeon, assistant surgeon, etc.).  Remember to add the anesthesiologist as well as they typically bill separately.  It will really change things if some US doctors are starting to offer package deals. 

The overseas doctors usually offer all-inclusive package deals, from what I have heard.

I hear Dr. Stewart in Texas has a really good self-pay rate.

I also received self pay prices from Dr. Keshishian's office: 

$11,000.00 for surgeon's fees and

$17,500.00 for the hospital fees at Verdugo Hills hospital  (Dr. K's office in Glendale, California & Verdugo Hills~As he has 2 office locations, Delano and Glendale and so there are also 2 different hospitals, Verdugo Hills and the one located in Delano involved)
