I'm switched and home!
Hi all--DS surgery Tuesday with Dr. Kemmeter went well. The next day was really tough, but every day is easier. I walked laps and sipped all day and got to come home Thursday night. St. Mary's in Grand Rapids is a Bariatric Center of Excellence--and they sure were wonderful. The nurses were awesome, the rooms were private and very nice. Now I am just sipping and walking and hanging out. I'm very sore, and ready for my Loratab pain meds when it is time. It is amazing the difference between an "ok" size sip and one that is too big! All is well, and I will post more later. And I can't even imagine getting down 4 protein drinks and 64 oz of water! Seems impossible now, but I am taking it slow and steady...no hurry. They told me to focus on staying hydrated first.

Welcome to the dark side, Kelly. I'm so glad you had a good experience in the hospital and it sounds like you're doing great now. Rock on!

Congratulations to you on the surgery...glad it all went well....tomorrow is my 4 month anniversary from my DS...I has some discomfort the first few days, but after that I was feeling back to myself...Yes it does get lots easier with the drinking of the shakes and water....I still drink 2 shakes a day, sip them moderately..and drink lots of water......I am of yesterday down 96 pounds...so this surgery is amazing......good luck to you.....
Keep up the good work! I'm just a month post-op, and it does get easier - very quickly. I am proud to say that I am finally this week FULLY hydrated and am keeping up with all my daily vitamins. Those are the two most difficult things to get accomplished and are now your full-time job! Just know that you will be drinking all day every day. "Enjoy" your recovery time - take it easy, let others do things for you, just relax and sip!
Best of luck to you!
