Flax seed

Bought a bag to make flax seed bread from a recipe I saw on you tube.  OMG I thought I was going to hurle.  I have tried adding garlic powder, onion powder, both, sweet and low, etc.  Can't do it.  Any suggestions on something I can make out of this so I don't have to throw out?  Too cheap just to chuck.  Thanks....

Never "made" anything with flax seed.  Just added it to things such as protein drinks, yogurt, meatballs or meatloaf, chili, sprinkled on salads, stirred some in OJ and chugged it.

But, for future reference, hemp seed is good ground into butter (like peanut butter without the nut flavor) and makes a good bread. Hemp seed has high quality protein and the good omega fats.

Mr. Hemp Bread:

1 cup hemp butter
3 eggs
1 tsp baking soda
1Tbsp vinegar
dash of salt
packet of sweetener.

pour batter into greased SMALL loaf pan and bake for 40 to 45 minutes.  Let cool before slicing.

That is the basic recipe.  GF tells me she gets better results by increasing baking soda to 1 1/2 tsp and vinegar to 1 1/2 Tbsp. Also she sometimes makes a "plain" loaf, mostly she makes flavored loaves such as adding a 1/4 cup (or more to your liking) of sweetener, TBSP Cinnamon or pumpkin pie spic, pecans, dried blueberries OR chopped garlic, basil, chives, parsley, grated cheddar cheese.

All of her family loves this recipe now. They make it all the time and they are not DSers

Thanks for the idea.  I hate to waste money.  I was hoping someone would have some other ideas.  I will look for hemp seed and try this.  It sounds good.

Thanks again
