Coconut oil
Your nutritionist won't be much help when you have anal fissures from constipation. The whole reason the DS works is because we (MUST) eat high fat, high protein, low carb diets. If you want to get your fat from a bottle of (healthy) coconut oil that is fine by me. I choose to eat my fat because it really (in the long run) helps keep me satisfied so I don't have to eat those carbs.
I add fat wherever I can. Full fat Greek yogurt, tons of butter, full fat sour cream, salad dressing, cheese. The fattiest meat I can buy..rib eyes..yum. I eat very low carb and with this diet, plus TONS of Calcium I have the most normal poos ever. When I wasn't yet able to eat a lot of fat (early on) I had TERRIBLE constipation but luckily vets here told me to take Magnesium Oxide (tablets) which saved my ass. Literally.
I don't think I could drink enough coconut oil to keep me going with as much Calcium as I take. But we are all different and your mileage may vary.
PS What other advice has your NUT given you? Usually we find if they say something like "eat low fat" that there is a list of incorrect advice they have also doled out.

Everything else my NUT said was different from the things I've read of here, and I think I've read just about everything now. They kept emphasizing low fat this, low fat that. Come to think of it, though, they had had the RNY, so they were speaking from their experience. Plus, I was the only person who had had the DS done in my health group, so they had a harder time keeping me up to date with my info. And one of them said they wanted me to avoid beef, even after I told her it sat better than other meats, so I just kind of brushed her off after that, and I eat what works for me. But I will definitely be increasing my fat intake. I miss fatty cheeses, dark meats, and full fat yogurt! And I'm going to eat avocados like they're going extinct
