Yes its terrible I really dread eating and its so draining. I will see my surgeon on the 16th and see what he says as well!!! Thanks for letting me know I am not the only one!!!
I'm not sure if your program supplies you with a NUT (dietitian) but if so, he/she may have some recipes or even suggestons of fast food or frozen food that may help.
I think the eating repulsion that we are experiencing might come from having to eat small meals so often throughout the day. It's hard to come up with variety for so many different meals, so eating becomes a chore instead of a pleasurable experience.
Here's one solution that I've found: Lean Cuisine has a Salmon with Basil dish that I love. It has a fair amount of protein. When I shop, I have a rule - if there's not at least 5 grams of protein per serving in an item, it doesn't get into my cart. If you like Lean Cuisine, check out the various dishes they have for protein content. It should be listed in the Nutrition Facts box on the carton. AVOID the ones that have noodles! They will give you gas from hell!
Also, please *never* completely let go of your shakes! I got into protein calorie malnutrition because of it. I think many of us are counseled that we can eventually get all of our protein needs met through food, but I think that's more for RNY's than for us, because we are so much more malabsorptive. I use plain whey protein isolate, and flavor my own using different extracts and coffee.
Hope this helps!
at 15 months PO you are really early out, and most likely have not reached intestinal adaptation, usually by 24 months. not sure what you mean by you hat e the way you feel after you eat but try eating foods that will limit distress, get protein in my good quality foods etc. I never had problems eating, some days i eat everything in sight, others I dont' want to eat, i think that is normal. those who see me say I am "too thin" at 123 lbs....give your body another year or so to adapt to your dS configuration and hopefully you will feel better....

When I say I don't like how I feel I mean that sometimes I feel nauseous and get tired after I eat. It makes me not want to eat. I hope it does get better over time....Thanks

Everyone is different but a high carb meal can cause tiredness after a meal when a high protein/low carb meal does not. Are you getting in all of your vitamins?
I went through a period a few months ago where I felt like complete crap after I ate, no matter what I ate - I told one of my DS friends that I felt like my guts hated me. Examine what you're eating - have you ever tried an elimination diet? What if you have a food allergy/sensitivity, like to gluten? This could be contributing to your symptoms. Another possibility is that the good bacteria in your guts could be off - are you taking a probiotic? This helps a lot of people; unfortunately, I am not one of them! My problem eventually went away, so I'm not really sure what was causing it.

I am 10 weeks out and I have lost 60 pounds. I really work hard to eat every day. I have a hard time making it to 800 calories/60 g protein. I finally bought a lot of "bariatric" foods to help me. I want to eat unprocessed, but I realize it is more important that I get the nutrition in than the source of it for the time being. I am slowly getting to the point that I can eat a little fish and chicken, but not beef yet. Not much dairy, either. I frequently start to eat, feel bad and have to stop and try again later.
It has gotten better in the past couple of weeks. I hope that you find the answers and share them because I really don't want to have these issues after a year!
Good luck!
