Well I got my blood results from last year and the paperwork to get it done this year. I would like to post my numbers to see if I am where I should be, but I have no idea which ones are relevant and which ones are not. I could use some help with what to post and how to read them.

thanks

How about calcium, PTH and D3?  Then iron, ferritin, hematocrit, hemoglobin. B12, thiamin, B6, folate. Potassium and zinc. Protein, albumin and prealbumin.

You want your calcium down around 9.2, PTH down around 26 and D3 up around 100.

Iron between 80 and 100. Ferritin between 200 and 300.

B12 over 1000.

Thiamin, B6 and folate up near the top of the listed range.

Potassium and zinc near the top of the range.

Protein close to 7, albumin and prealbumin near the top of the range.

I really don't know how to read this stuff and I don't know if Canada and the States use the same measurement system. So far calcium is 2.23 then it says that 2.10-2.55 is normal.

I cant find PTH??what is that? No D3 on my papers.  But just vitamin d total is 19.5 normal is 70-250 so that is not good, hemoglobin is 135, hematocrit 0.395, potassium 4.1. is protein from blood test or urine sample?

canada and us do not use the same units, canada uses international units, but you can calculate them or just use the reference range with the individual lab result to compare if you are at least in the range.  PTH is parathyroid hormone, as a DS you should be monitoring your calcium output via PTH.  vitamin D is by far one of  the most confusing blood work ordered, you should request Vit D25, which by looking at your reference range is what you had tested.  I am sure your PTH is high as your Vit D is very, very low, you should have your PTH tested, ask the dr to treat you as a short gut patient...good luck to you

You're right. I didn't realize you are Canadian. Different measures-- but you can post your labs and the reference ranges and we can still help. Protein is a blood test here. You might check out www.labtestsonline.org for some help with the various tests.

You should post all of them with reference ranges for every single test.  I'd recommend using a program like excel and then upload using a tool like google documents, and "share" the document with people that have the link, then post the link.  Very helpful!
