Major mom, you are my go to for nutritional stuff here. I'm always looking in the archives about stuff and you have great posts!
I do have a question I couldn't find too much info on though. I love pork cracklins. In the archives I found that the protein from them doesn't count towards our daily goal. Can you I tell me why since the protein from other pork products would count? If it doesn't count then pork rinds are kind of empty calories, I'm still going to eat them in place of corn chips, hmmm I wonder how they are with guac...

Here's what I found with a quick search http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/main-lowcarb-lobby/716660- pork-skins-not-significant-source-protein.html

"Here is a quote from a body building forum:

"The type of protein in pork skins is called collagen, the same substance found in hair, fingernails, and horsehooves. Its bio-availability is almost non-existent, hence the statement on the package. People in survival situations (the Donner party, etc.) have attempted to use leather as a food source, with unfortunate results.""

...Ahhh, So, that's why protein drinks claiming to have 24-48 grams of protein and the first protein ingredient on them is collagen isn't good for WLS recipients.

I don't think any of us want to be part of the Donner party...

Huneypie is spot on. Collagen is only good for what it's good for, not a good source of a complete protein but great for skin, hair and nails.

Happy New Year all!  Huneypie, I have not been the least bit hungry for days!  I wish I could have a little hunger!  I am struggling with eating at the moment.  Somehow getting it down (like lunch today - 4 bites of fish) is very hard for me.  In fact, I was thinking about just doing protein shakes tomorrow.  Not sure what is going on but I do not want any food.  Just drinks.

A.C. I'll gladly donate you some of my hunger kiss  Whilst I'm not exactly ravenous and I do get full more quickly it's just annoying.  I'm going to kick up the protein in the next few days and see how I do.

Looking at what I posted today it doesn't look like that much food, well not compared to a 'normie.'  It's probably quite a lot compared to the folk on here, but I'm losing so albeit slowly so I guess that's what counts to me.
