I am wanting to use either diet soda or Perrier in my protein shakes.  anyone done this yet.  Obviously I can use a diet a&w with carbsmart but anyone specifically used protein powder with diet soda?

You are too early out to even try a carbonated beverage.  Do not do this no matter how much you miss it.  I have only had a few Diet Coke Zeros.  I have decided not to even try one again.  If I do, I have severe gas and am very uncomfortable.  I am 5 mo out as of yesterday, down 115lbs.  I will wait until about 9 months to even consider anything carbonated again.

Why would you advise me to wait?  Just wondering...I have actually tried  Perrier and have not had those issues.  Remember MMMV.

You are still healing that's why...

It's Your Mileage May Vary... YMMV wink

The consults I had with a different surgeon said to stay away from Carbonated Beverages for the first year.  Mine said 6 mo.  Your wound in your stomach is still tender.  It needs time.

By the time you get it all blended I would guess there's no carbonation left anyway!

I haven't tried this.  To me that protein stuff is so awful it would be a waste of a good Diet Coke!  But if I was going to do this I might try one of those clear Isopure proteins in a glass bottle.

Mixed horrible nectar vanilla bean torte with almond milk, yuck... Then added diet A&W, not an improvement. Will just save that for SmartCarb/Diet Rootbeer float. Further down the line of recovery... better yet, diet Vernor's for a low carb Boston Cooler. Even in winter that sounds splendid.

Carbonation may be hard to tolerate, but try a little and see what happens.  If it sounds good, try it.  If it's uncomfortable, wait a few weeks and try again.  Being that there is no tried and true method that fits everyone, there's going to be a lot of trial and error on your way.

There are unflavored protein drinks, Vitalady has some.
